Elections are a very vital part of a democracy. It is through elections, the democracy becomes meaningful. It is by the way of elections, the citizens participate in making a choice of electing their representative. This representative would defend and fight for the rights of the people. There can be many political parties who may contest in elections. The best part of Elections is the existence of opposition parties. Each opposition party tries to present the view of other side of the coin. This will help to evaluate the scenario from both aspects and arrive at a thoughtful conclusions. The opposition parties play an important role in educating and informing the voters about the ongoing trends? in politics.

For any country to progress there is a dire requirement of responsible and participative citizens in the democracy. Incase, the scenario is vice versa, the power in the hands of representatives is prone to misuse and would cause corruption in the land.

The Election Commission of India is an independent body which divides all the work among all the states. The election commission appoint the Cheif Electoral Officer after consulting the state government/Union Territory. Each state has a head representative Who is the Cheif Electoral Officer. The Cheif Electoral Officer - Telangana monitors all the Elections related work. The Cheif Electoral Officer of Telangana state delegates work to his sub - ordinates and ensures everything goes in a planned manner.
The area sub divisional Magistrates or the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) are responsible for preparing electoral rolls for the assembly. The polling officers conduct polls in the supervision of presiding officers. In Telangana state, the District/Joint Collector and Revenue Divisional Officers are the Returning Officers. Assistant Returning Officers assists the returning officers in performing all the functions related to the conduct of Elections.
The CEO Telangana functions with the help of his staff. His office conducts General Elections and Bye - Elections for both Telangana State legislative assembly and Telangana State Legislative Council. As a part of its work it prepares and updates Electoral Rolls, Issues Photo Identity Cards to Electors. It rationalizes and reorganizes polling stations. It provides voter's education. It also implements model code of conduct, election laws and the instructions issued time after time by the Election Commission of India.

Current CEO of Telangana:-
Bhanwar Lal is the first Cheif Electoral Officer appointed for Telangana state. He is also appointed as the CEO of Andhra Pradesh State. He is a senior IAS officer hailing from Rajasthan. He is an MBA from Birmingham University, UK. He earlier served as Sub Divisional Magistrate and Sub - collector at Karim Nagar and Kandukur districts. He was also appointed as Managing Director of State Non Resident Indian Investment Corporation.
