Agriculture Irrigation and Water Resource Department & Politician of Chhattisgarh Minister Brij Mohan Agarwal today attended the camp organized at Village Garhsivinhi of Mahasamund Vikashand under the Public Suraj campaign. Chhattisgarh has been chosen for ‘Rashtriya Krishi Karman Award’, for record production in pulses. Earlier, thrice Chhattisgarh was awarded the same award but for paddy production, officials said on Saturday. Apart from the citation, a cash amount of `2 crore will be also handed over to Chhattisgarh, they added. Union Agricultural Production Commissioner SK Malhotra has conveyed about the award to Chhattisgarh Government through a letter written to Chhattisgarh Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner, Ajay Singh. According to officials, Chhattisgarh was selected for the award on the basis of its outstanding performance in pulses production for the year 2014-15. Apart from the certificate, the state will be get `2 crore, they added. Chief Minister Raman Singh has congratulated farmers community of the state, Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal along with officials and staff of Agriculture department. Meanwhile praising cultivators across the State, Singh said farmers in the State are now taking benefits from various schemes being run by state Government and are showing keen interest towards pulses farming. ‘This award is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh’, he added. Meanwhile, Minister Agrawal appreciated Chief Minister’s guidance and informed that during the year 2014-15 pulses were produced on 7.85 lakh hectares of farm out of which production was registered on 6.55 lakh hectare which is 39 per cent more as compared to the production in Year 2013-14.
